Buying a Mercedes electric CLA in France means settling three questions in order: which version matches real use, which dealership holds it or can order it, and how long the wait will be before delivery. All three can be answered with public information, provided you know where to look.

This article gathers the prices recorded in September 2026, the structure of the French distribution network and the checks worth running before signing an order form. It replaces neither a test drive nor a written quotation from the chosen dealership.

In brief:

  1. Four electric versions make up the 2026 French range, from the CLA 200 EQ at 53,650 euros to the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ electric at 82,100 euros.
  2. Two battery sizes coexist, 58 kWh in lithium iron phosphate and 85 kWh, for a homologated range of 672 to 791 kilometres on the WLTP combined cycle.
  3. Orders go through an authorised dealership, operated by regional distribution groups whose geographic coverage varies sharply from one region to the next.
  4. Used electric CLAs recorded on 20 September 2026 trade between 59,900 and 67,900 euros with 50 to 9,260 kilometres on the clock, a narrow gap against new.

The electric CLA, four versions and two batteries

The third-generation CLA is built on an architecture dedicated to electric vehicles, running at 800 volts. That technical choice governs both charging speed and which workshops are qualified to service the car.

Two battery capacities structure the offer. The first, 58 kWh, uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry and feeds a 224-horsepower motor. The second, 85 kWh, comes in two power levels, 272 horsepower with rear-wheel drive and 354 horsepower with all-wheel drive. A 680-horsepower AMG derivative tops the range.

Homologated range runs from 672 to 791 kilometres on the WLTP combined cycle depending on version and wheel diameter. The urban cycle, more favourable, pushes that figure to between 768 and 922 kilometres. Quoted consumption stays between 12.2 and 14.7 kWh per 100 kilometres.

On charging, the technical sheet published at the model’s launch gives a precise benchmark.

“Thanks to an 800-volt architecture, maximum power reaches 320 kW. Enough to go from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 22 minutes, or recover 325 km of range in 10 minutes.” Valentin Cimino, Automobile Propre, 30 April 2025

Those figures assume a charger able to deliver the stated power. On a 50 kW unit, common away from major routes, charging time is counted in hours rather than minutes.

Which version to order for real-world use

The choice between the two batteries weighs more on the budget than the choice of trim.

CLA 250+ EQ Progressive Line85 kWh272 hpRear-wheel drive54,300 €

CLA 350 4MATIC EQ AMG Line85 kWh354 hpAll-wheel drive68,300 €
Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ electric85 kWh680 hpAll-wheel drive82,100 €

Two entry points sit close together in this grid. The CLA 200 EQ in AMG Line trim is listed at 53,650 euros, pairing its 58 kWh battery with AMG Line equipment. The CLA 250+ EQ Progressive Line, listed at 54,300 euros, offers an 85 kWh battery and higher power, for regular motorway use.

All-wheel drive earns its place on a specific use case: hilly terrain, frequent winter conditions or regular towing.

To place that budget against the electric offering coming out of China, positioned considerably lower on the price scale, our overview of Chinese SUVs provides comparison points on drivetrains and price levels.

Where an electric CLA is ordered in France

The French Mercedes-Benz network does not work as a uniform chain. It is made up of independent distribution groups, each holding a dealer contract and running several sites across a given territory.

Coverage that varies widely by region

That structure produces local densities with nothing in common from one region to the next.

This list does not cover the whole French network, which includes other regional groups and branches owned by the manufacturer. What it shows above all is that a buyer is not choosing between commercially competing outlets: on a new car the list price is identical everywhere, and the difference lies in distance, availability and the quality of ongoing support.

How to confirm a dealership holds the model

A network site can hold the franchise without displaying the model in question. Three checks avoid a wasted trip.

The first is to ask, by telephone rather than through a web form, whether an electric demonstration car is on site and available to drive. The second concerns the workshop: not every site has teams qualified on an 800-volt architecture, which matters across several years of ownership. The third covers stock of cars already built, which changes the lead time entirely. The four ways to get behind the wheel before ordering, from dealership to one-day rental, are compared in our guide to an electric Mercedes CLA test drive around Paris.

That verification method applies to any brand whose network is organised into regional groups. Our guide to the Geely dealer network sets out the same approach applied to a network in full development.

How long between order and delivery

Recorded lead times on a factory order run from three to six months. Three factors drive that figure, in decreasing order of weight.

Version comes first. A CLA 250+ in standard configuration leaves the production line faster than a CLA 350 4MATIC in AMG Line trim. Options follow, with certain combinations of paint, upholstery and rare equipment adding several weeks. The timing of the order matters last, since quarter ends concentrate volumes.

A dealership holding a car in stock bypasses that wait. The trade-off is twofold: the configuration is whatever the available car carries, and any negotiation on options then applies to equipment already fitted.

What the used market shows in September 2026

The first electric CLAs reaching the used market carry very low mileage. A check run on 20 September 2026 on the stock of an authorised dealer group in Normandy gives the following order of magnitude.

VehicleYearMileageListed price
Electric CLA20257,000 km59,900 €
Electric CLA Shooting Brake20268,500 km65,900 €
Electric CLA Shooting Brake20269,260 km67,900 €
Electric CLA202650 km67,900 €

The last example is worth setting against the new price list: 67,900 euros for a car with 50 kilometres on it, when a new CLA 350 4MATIC AMG Line is listed at 68,300 euros. Four hundred euros separate the two, but the used car is already registered, its warranty has started running and its configuration was chosen by someone else.

On a recent model in strong demand, used therefore serves one purpose only, cutting the wait. That is a legitimate trade-off for a buyer who needs a car quickly, not a saving.

The same mechanism appears across every brand whose model has just launched, including manufacturers recently arrived on the French market, as our guide to buying a Zeekr in France illustrates.

Checks to run before signing the order form

Five points are worth confirming before signature, all of them in writing.

The exact version, with its full commercial code, prevents confusion between a CLA 250+ and a CLA 200 EQ, whose spoken designations sound alike. The total price, options and registration costs included, belongs on the document rather than as a base price paired with a verbal estimate. If the order comes with financing, the comparison on whether to buy or lease your Mercedes on LOA or LLD details the clauses to get priced.

The delivery date should be requested as a date, not a bracket. Warranty terms, their duration, mileage cap and battery coverage in particular, deserve close reading: battery capacity warranties do not follow the same rules as the rest of the car.

That leaves after-sales. The workshop handling routine servicing for four years is not necessarily the one selling the car. On a vehicle above 50,000 euros running at 800 volts, the distance between home and workshop weighs more than the discount obtained on signing day.
